About BetterWho

About BetterWho
  1. What is BetterWho?

BetterWho is a coaching, consulting, and remote staffing company built exclusively for property management companies. BetterWho helps property management owners build self-managing teams so the business no longer depends on the owner for every decision, escalation, and next step. Services include BetterTeam Consulting, BetterRevenue Consulting, Executive Coaching, The WhoCrew mastermind, and RTM Direct remote staffing.

  2. Who does BetterWho work with?

BetterWho works with property management company owners, operators, and their leadership teams, including Integrators, operations managers, and business development managers (BDMs). Clients range from owner-operators with under 100 properties to companies managing 500+ properties. The common thread is a business that has grown faster than its team, leadership, and Operational Framework, leaving the owner as the bottleneck.

  3. What problem does BetterWho solve?

BetterWho solves owner dependency in property management companies. When every decision, approval, and escalation routes back to the owner, growth feels heavy, the team stalls, and the owner cannot step away. BetterWho diagnoses what keeps the business owner-dependent, then helps build the people, leadership, and Operational Framework needed for a team that owns outcomes.

  4. What is a self-managing team?

A self-managing team runs day-to-day operations without the owner in the middle. In a self-managing property management team, everyone knows who owns what, managers make decisions without waiting for the owner, and work gets done when the owner is offline. Building self-managing teams is the core outcome behind every BetterWho service.

  5. What does "Operational Framework" mean at BetterWho?

At BetterWho, an Operational Framework is the set of roles, accountability, KPIs, meeting rhythm, and decision ownership that lets a property management company run consistently without the owner. The Operational Framework is about how people work together, not which tools they use.

  6. Is BetterWho only for property management companies?

Yes. BetterWho is built specifically for the property management industry. Every BetterWho service, from BetterTeam Consulting to RTM Direct remote staffing, is designed around property management realities such as owner and tenant communication, leasing, maintenance coordination, fee structures, and portfolio growth. BetterWho does not offer generic business coaching adapted from other industries.

  7. Who leads BetterWho?

BetterWho is led by founder Jay Berube and CEO and Co-Founder Matthew Tringali. Jay Berube and Matt Tringali also host the monthly Ask Me Anything sessions for members of The WhoCrew, BetterWho's mastermind program for property management owners and leaders.

  8. How is BetterWho different from generic business coaching?

BetterWho differs from generic business coaching in three ways: BetterWho serves only property management companies, diagnoses the real constraint before recommending any solution, and focuses on implementation rather than advice alone. BetterWho clients get custom KPIs, practical roadmaps, and hands-on execution support tied to the specific bottleneck keeping their business dependent on the owner.

  9. Is BetterWho an EOS implementer?

No. BetterWho is not a standard EOS (Entrepreneurial Operating System) implementer. BetterTeam Consulting may draw on EOS and other proven operating frameworks, but every engagement is customized to the property management company and its actual problems. The focus is on people, accountability, priorities, and operating rhythms that fit how property management companies really run.

  10. What services does BetterWho offer?

BetterWho offers four service lines for property management companies. Consulting includes BetterTeam Consulting, BetterRevenue Consulting, the COMBO engagement, and one-time auditing services. Coaching includes Executive Coaching and Growth Coaching. Masterminds are done through The WhoCrew. Staffing includes RTM Direct Placement, RTM Performance, RTM Partner Plan, and related add-ons. BetterWho also sells self-paced courses and Notion templates for property managers.

  11. What results can property management owners expect from BetterWho?

Property management owners working with BetterWho typically see clarity and relief first, then more consistent execution, then long-term freedom. In practice, that means fewer decisions landing on the owner's desk, managers taking more ownership, clearer priorities, and the ability to take real time off. BetterWho tracks results with metrics such as owner time spent firefighting, quarterly priority completion, and revenue per unit (RPU).

  12. Does BetterWho offer a free consultation?

Yes. BetterWho offers a free consultation call for its consulting engagements (BetterTeam Consulting, BetterRevenue Consulting, and COMBO), its coaching programs (Executive Coaching and Growth Coaching), and RTM Direct placements and plans. Products that are purchased directly, such as Mystery Shopping, courses, the PM Company Brain - Notion Template, and candidate screening, do not include a consultation call. The consultation identifies what is keeping the business dependent on the owner and matches the owner with the right BetterWho service.

How BetterWho Works

  1. What is BetterWho's approach?

BetterWho's approach is "diagnose before prescribing." BetterWho first identifies the real bottleneck keeping a property management business dependent on the owner, then matches the client to the right service, then helps build the team, leadership, and Operational Framework needed to remove that bottleneck. The guiding principle is to do the right things, at the right time, in the right order.

  2. What is the BetterWho 4 Pillar Business Framework?

The BetterWho 4 Pillar Business Framework is a model for scaling a property management company in the right order, built on a foundation of leadership. The four pillars are Team (the right people in the right seats), Systems (the business runs without the owner as the bottleneck), Profit (revenue and margins are protected), and Growth (client acquisition is predictable and scalable).

  3. Why does BetterWho say the order of improvements matters?

BetterWho teaches that property management companies should strengthen Team first, then Systems, then Profit, then Growth. Chasing growth before the team and processes are stable leads to burnout, chaos, and stalled progress. BetterWho summarizes this as "Team → Systems → Profit → Growth. Sequence beats speed."

  4. What is the Diagnose, Design, Deploy method?

Diagnose, Design, Deploy is the three-phase method BetterWho uses in BetterTeam Consulting, BetterRevenue Consulting, and COMBO engagements. Diagnose identifies what is actually limiting the business. Design turns that diagnosis into a practical operating model and 90-day plan. Deploy puts the changes into practice and builds the habits that make them stick, until the client team owns the new way of operating without relying on the consultant.

  5. What are MAPs?

MAPs, or Most Advantageous Projects, are BetterWho's 90-day priorities, each with a clear owner and finish line. BetterWho uses MAPs in consulting and coaching engagements to break large goals into manageable, measurable projects, so property management teams focus on the few moves that create the most capacity and momentum.

  6. Why does BetterWho work in 90-day cycles?

BetterWho works in 90-day cycles because 90 days is long enough to produce a meaningful, measurable result and short enough to keep a property management team focused. BetterWho consulting and coaching engagements run in consecutive 90-day terms, clients set 90-day priorities, and new members of The WhoCrew aim to improve one North Star metric by day 90.

  7. What KPIs does BetterWho track with clients?

BetterWho tracks KPIs tied to each client's goals. Common BetterWho metrics include revenue per unit (RPU), Direct Labor Efficiency Ratio (DLER), units per employee, owner time spent firefighting, the number of days the owner can be away without disruption, quarterly priority completion, and commitment completion. BetterRevenue Consulting also tracks cost per unit, fee capture, and profitability percentage.

  8. Does BetterWho use AI in its services?

Yes. BetterWho integrates AI across its services to improve execution, not to add more tools. Remote Team Members placed through RTM Direct complete AI certification during onboarding, The WhoCrew includes BettyWho (BetterWho's AI operations and leadership coach) and AI-focused mastermind rooms, and BetterWho sells the AI Simplified course for property managers. BetterWho positions AI as a partner to people, not a replacement.

  9. Will working with BetterWho mean buying more software?

Not by default. BetterWho diagnoses the bottleneck first, and most progress comes from clearer ownership, stronger leadership habits, and a consistent operating rhythm. When a tool will genuinely help, BetterWho recommends it intentionally. BetterWho often sees property management owners spend money on software or hires that do not solve the root problem.

  10. Does BetterWho help with remote or distributed teams?

Yes. BetterWho helps property management companies build and lead distributed teams through RTM Direct remote staffing, remote team leadership support in coaching and consulting, and the PM Company Brain - Notion Template, which gives distributed teams one organized home for tasks, projects, meetings, and processes.

Choosing the Right BetterWho Service

Compare our services
  1. Which BetterWho service is right for me?

The right BetterWho service depends on the constraint. BetterTeam Consulting fits when the business depends on the owner for decisions and accountability. BetterRevenue Consulting fits when profit is not keeping up with growth. Executive Coaching fits owners who want private 1:1 guidance. The WhoCrew fits owners who want a peer room. RTM Direct fits teams that need more capacity. A free BetterWho consultation confirms the match.

  2. What is the difference between BetterTeam Consulting and The WhoCrew?

BetterTeam Consulting installs the Operational Framework: roles, accountability, KPIs, meeting rhythms, and decision ownership. The WhoCrew strengthens the people operating inside that framework through facilitated, role-based peer mastermind rooms. BetterWho summarizes the difference as installation versus sharpening. BetterTeam Consulting is hands-on consulting; The WhoCrew is a peer mastermind membership.

  3. What is the difference between Executive Coaching and BetterTeam Consulting?

BetterWho Executive Coaching is private 1:1 advisory for a property management owner or leader, focused on clarity, leadership, and high-stakes decisions. BetterTeam Consulting is a hands-on engagement that installs an Operational Framework across the whole team. Executive Coaching develops the individual leader, while BetterTeam Consulting changes how the organization operates.

  4. What is the difference between Executive Coaching and The WhoCrew?

BetterWho Executive Coaching is weekly 1:1 coaching tailored to one owner or leader, priced at $2,000 per month. The WhoCrew is a group mastermind where property management owners pressure-test decisions with peers in monthly facilitated sessions, priced at $250 per month or $2,500 per year. Owners who want peer support and accountability without 1:1 coaching often start with The WhoCrew.

  5. Should I hire a Remote Team Member or get coaching first?

It depends on the bottleneck. If a property management owner has clear processes but not enough hands, an RTM Direct Remote Team Member adds capacity quickly. If the owner is unsure what to delegate or which role is needed, BetterWho Executive Coaching or BetterTeam Consulting helps clarify that first, so the eventual hire has a defined role and clear success criteria.

  6. Can I combine BetterWho services?

Yes. Many BetterWho clients combine services. The COMBO engagement pairs BetterTeam Consulting with BetterRevenue Consulting. Current BetterWho coaching and consulting clients can join The WhoCrew for peer support alongside their engagement, and any client can add RTM Direct placements to build capacity. BetterWho's Mystery Shopping audit often feeds into consulting, coaching, or staffing work.

  7. What size property management company is BetterWho best for?

BetterWho serves property management companies at most stages, with different services fitting different sizes. Executive Coaching fits owners under about 150 properties and senior leaders. The WhoCrew fits owners under about 100 properties, but also larger operators who want a peer room. BetterRevenue Consulting fits companies with anywhere between 20 and 500+ properties. BetterTeam Consulting fits companies with 100 to 500+ properties or scaling leadership teams. RTM Direct fits companies of any size.

  8. What if I don't know where to start with BetterWho?

Start with a free BetterWho consultation. Many property management owners face several problems at once and are unsure which to fix first. BetterWho's discovery process is designed for exactly that situation: it identifies the constraint that will unlock the most progress, then recommends the right sequence of next steps.

BetterTeam Consulting and COMBO

Explore BetterTeam Consulting
  1. What is BetterTeam Consulting?

BetterTeam Consulting (BTC) is BetterWho's hands-on consulting service for property management owners who are stuck as the bottleneck. BetterTeam Consulting installs an Operational Framework (clear roles, real accountability, KPIs, meeting rhythms, and decision ownership) so the business stops relying on the owner for every decision and fire. The goal is a self-managing team.

  2. Who is BetterTeam Consulting for?

BetterTeam Consulting is for property management companies, typically with 100 to 500+ properties or scaling leadership teams, where the owner or leadership team is still heavily involved in day-to-day operations. Owners who say "everything still comes back to me," "I can't take a vacation," or "my managers aren't really managing" are a strong fit.

  3. How much does BetterTeam Consulting cost?

BetterTeam Consulting is priced by team size: $2,000 per month for small teams (1–4 people), $2,250 per month for medium teams (5–15 people), and $2,500 per month for large teams (16+ people). A one-time signup fee equal to one month's fee applies. BetterTeam Consulting requires a 90-day commitment and continues in consecutive 90-day terms.

  4. What is included in BetterTeam Consulting?

BetterTeam Consulting covers team structure, KPIs, meeting rhythms, and 90-day MAPs. Depending on the engagement, deliverables include an organizational health assessment, leadership and team interviews, a Right People Right Seats assessment, an accountability chart, role clarity, core values alignment, quarterly priorities, process and SOP priorities, an implementation roadmap, and ongoing leadership coaching and implementation support.

  5. How long does a BetterTeam Consulting engagement last?

BetterTeam Consulting requires a 90-day commitment and continues in consecutive 90-day terms. A typical engagement runs 6 to 12 months, because organizational change requires implementation and habit formation, not just a plan. A typical BetterTeam Consulting journey moves from audit and org design in months 1–2, to KPI deployment and leadership training in months 3–4, to optimization and strategic execution after that.

  6. Does BetterTeam Consulting just produce SOPs?

No. SOPs are only one piece of BetterTeam Consulting. The engagement focuses on people, accountability, priorities, operating rhythms, and the habits that make processes actually get followed. BetterWho's view is that a property management team has to practice the new way of operating until it becomes the way the business runs.

  7. What is the BetterWho COMBO consulting engagement?

The COMBO engagement combines BetterTeam Consulting and BetterRevenue Consulting for property management companies whose team and economic constraints are limiting growth at the same time. COMBO costs $2,500 per month for small teams (1–4 people), $2,750 for medium teams (5–15), and $3,000 for large teams (16+), plus a signup fee equal to one month. COMBO requires a 90-day commitment and continues in consecutive 90-day terms.

BetterRevenue Consulting

Explore BetterRevenue Consulting
  1. What is BetterRevenue Consulting?

BetterRevenue Consulting (BRC) is BetterWho's consulting service for improving the economics of a property management company. BetterRevenue Consulting identifies where revenue and profit are being lost, then builds a practical, data-backed plan to improve revenue per unit, pricing, fees, and margins while protecting owner trust.

  2. Who is BetterRevenue Consulting for?

BetterRevenue Consulting is for property management companies, typically with 20 to 500+ properties, that have outdated fee structures, margin leakage, or rising service and compliance costs and want to increase profitability without adding properties. Owners who say "we're adding properties but the bottom line isn't improving" or "our fees haven't changed in years" are a strong fit.

  3. How much does BetterRevenue Consulting cost?

BetterRevenue Consulting costs $1,000 per month with no signup fee. BetterRevenue Consulting requires a 90-day commitment and continues in consecutive 90-day terms. Property management companies that need both team and revenue support can choose BetterWho's COMBO engagement instead.

  4. What does BetterRevenue Consulting include?

Depending on the engagement, BetterRevenue Consulting includes a revenue and profitability diagnostic, revenue per unit (RPU) analysis, fee structure analysis and a fee audit, service profitability and cost-to-serve reviews, margin analysis, revenue leakage analysis, pricing opportunities, a profitability roadmap, a KPI dashboard, quarterly revenue priorities, an implementation plan, and ongoing financial performance reviews.

  5. Does BetterRevenue Consulting just mean raising management fees?

No. Fee increases can be part of the solution, but BetterRevenue Consulting looks at the entire economic model of a property management company, including which services and clients are profitable, cost to serve, fee capture, and revenue per unit. When BetterWho recommends fee changes, it also helps plan the rollout to protect owner trust.

  6. Is BetterRevenue Consulting the same as bookkeeping?

No. Bookkeeping records what already happened. BetterRevenue Consulting analyzes the economics of a property management business and decides what to change, such as pricing, fee structure, service mix, and cost to serve, so growth increases profit and enterprise value instead of just adding workload.

  7. Can a property management company fix profitability by adding more properties?

Not necessarily. More properties do not automatically create more profit, and unprofitable growth can add workload without improving the bottom line. BetterRevenue Consulting focuses on profitable growth by improving revenue per unit, fee capture, and margins so each additional property contributes to the business.

  8. What is the difference between BetterTeam Consulting and BetterRevenue Consulting?

BetterTeam Consulting solves owner dependency and team execution through roles, accountability, KPIs, and meeting rhythms. BetterRevenue Consulting solves missed revenue and profitability through pricing, fees, margins, and revenue per unit. When both constraints exist together, BetterWho's COMBO engagement combines them. Both services use BetterWho's Diagnose, Design, Deploy method.

Mystery Shopping – Market Positioning Audit

See Mystery Shopping
  1. What is BetterWho's Mystery Shopping audit?

BetterWho's Mystery Shopping – Market Positioning Audit is an anonymous evaluation of how a property management company converts prospective owners compared with 3 competitors. BetterWho tests website conversion, email follow-up, phone lead handling, Google Business Profile, and online reputation, then delivers scored, evidence-based findings to guide sales process, messaging, positioning, and pricing decisions.

  2. How much does BetterWho Mystery Shopping cost and how long does it take?

BetterWho's Mystery Shopping – Market Positioning Audit is a one-time engagement that costs $3,500 and takes approximately 3 to 4 weeks. It includes competitive scorecards, a Decision Brief, a detailed Evidence Report, and a live presentation of findings to the leadership team.

  3. Who is BetterWho Mystery Shopping for?

BetterWho Mystery Shopping is for property management companies that actively generate owner leads and want to understand why prospects choose competitors. It fits companies losing management agreements without knowing why, companies with a weak close rate on owner leads, and companies planning to raise management fees that want evidence their owner experience justifies the increase.

  4. Will my team know they are being mystery shopped?

No. BetterWho's Mystery Shopping process is fully anonymous, so the findings reflect the property management company's real, current owner-acquisition experience rather than a rehearsed version.

  5. Does BetterWho Mystery Shopping include implementation?

No. BetterWho's Mystery Shopping engagement ends with the report and live leadership presentation. Implementing the recommended improvements is separate and can be supported through BetterWho consulting, coaching, or RTM Direct remote staffing.

Executive Coaching and Growth Coaching

Explore Executive Coaching
  1. What is BetterWho Executive Coaching?

BetterWho Executive Coaching is personalized 1:1 coaching for property management owners and leaders who are tired of firefighting and being the bottleneck. Executive Coaching diagnoses the real obstacle, builds a 12-month direction with 90-day priorities, and provides weekly accountability so decisions turn into execution. Executive Coaching works across the Team, Systems, and Profit pillars.

  2. Who is BetterWho Executive Coaching for?

BetterWho Executive Coaching is for property management owners with under approximately 150 properties, senior leaders, and business development managers (BDMs). Executive Coaching fits owner-operators wearing many hats, scaling owners still stuck in execution, and leaders who want to shift from reactive operator to proactive leader.

  3. How much does BetterWho Executive Coaching cost?

BetterWho Executive Coaching costs $2,000 per month and includes weekly 1:1 sessions and 90-day roadmaps. Executive Coaching requires a 90-day commitment and continues in consecutive 90-day terms.

  4. How often are BetterWho Executive Coaching sessions?

BetterWho Executive Coaching sessions are held weekly, one-on-one. Between sessions, BetterWho provides accountability check-ins, templates, and playbooks, with quarterly checkpoints to measure progress and adjust the 90-day roadmap.

  5. What is BetterWho Growth Coaching?

BetterWho Growth Coaching is 1:1 coaching focused only on the Growth pillar of the BetterWho 4 Pillar Business Framework, such as lead generation, client acquisition, and building a predictable pipeline. Growth Coaching costs $2,000 per month, includes 90-day roadmaps, and requires a 90-day commitment with consecutive 90-day terms.

  6. What is the difference between Executive Coaching and Growth Coaching?

Both are BetterWho 1:1 coaching programs priced at $2,000 per month on consecutive 90-day terms. Executive Coaching works across multiple business pillars (Team, Systems, and Profit) and leadership. Growth Coaching focuses only on the Growth pillar, including client acquisition and pipeline.

  7. I don't have time for coaching. Is Executive Coaching still a fit?

Often, yes. BetterWho Executive Coaching starts with a short, focused plan of one to three priority moves designed to reduce firefighting and create capacity first. Because BetterWho fixes the bottleneck before chasing growth, most Executive Coaching clients feel relief early instead of adding more to their plate.

  8. What if I don't know my business goals yet?

That is a common starting point. BetterWho Executive Coaching helps property management owners define what "better" means in 12 months, whether that is time, profit, properties, leadership, or lifestyle, and then turns it into practical 90-day priorities.

  9. What results have BetterWho Executive Coaching clients seen?

BetterWho Executive Coaching clients report regaining time and clarity and being able to take real time off without the business falling apart. In one example, a property management owner with 65 properties added 8 properties in 6 months without a new hire and reclaimed 6 hours per week.

  1. What is The WhoCrew?

The WhoCrew is BetterWho's cohort-based mastermind program for property management owners. The WhoCrew places owners in small, facilitated mastermind rooms with consistent membership all year, where they pressure-test decisions, share best practices, and hold each other accountable. Owners can also add seats in role-specific rooms to strengthen their Integrator, growth leader, and other key staff.

  2. Who is The WhoCrew for?

The WhoCrew is for property management owners who feel like the only person making the real decisions in their company and want a trusted peer room. The WhoCrew fits property managers with under about 100 properties as well as larger operators who want peer support, accountability, and structure from people who understand the property management business.

  3. How much does The WhoCrew cost?

The WhoCrew costs $250 per month or $2,500 per year. Both payment options carry a 12-month minimum commitment with a 90-day fit clause, which allows cancellation at day 90 but not sooner. A WhoCrew membership includes one seat in a mastermind room.

  4. What is included in a WhoCrew membership?

A WhoCrew membership includes one seat in a monthly facilitated mastermind room, a private member app and community, access to BettyWho (BetterWho's AI operations and leadership coach), and the PM Company Brain - Notion Template. WhoCrew members also get monthly Ask Me Anything sessions with BetterWho leadership and quarterly member meetups.

  5. What is The WhoCrew 90-day fit clause?

The WhoCrew's 90-day fit clause lets a new member cancel at day 90 if The WhoCrew is not the right fit, even though membership carries a 12-month minimum commitment. Cancellation is possible at day 90 but not sooner, which gives members enough time to experience the mastermind rooms and see results.

  6. How often does The WhoCrew meet?

Each WhoCrew mastermind room meets once a month. The standard WhoCrew session is 90 minutes and includes wins and KPI updates, a short facilitator framing, peer discussion or hot seats, one commitment per member, and accountability goals. All WhoCrew members also meet together at a quarterly member meetup.

  7. How big are WhoCrew mastermind rooms?

WhoCrew mastermind rooms are designed for 6 to 12 members with consistent membership all year, so trust and room dynamics build over time.

  8. Will I be in a WhoCrew room with my local competitors?

BetterWho is mindful of property management owners operating in the same market. WhoCrew owner members from the same market are placed in separate mastermind rooms when needed, so owners can speak openly about their business.

  9. How do I join The WhoCrew?

The WhoCrew enrolls new members in quarterly cohorts starting January 1, April 1, July 1, and October 1. BetterWho hosts a webinar about two weeks before each cohort starts, and the application window opens that day for 7 days. Applicants are then notified whether they are accepted. Outside the application window, property management owners can join The WhoCrew waitlist.

  10. Which WhoCrew mastermind room will I be placed in?

BetterWho places each new WhoCrew member in the mastermind room that best fits their stage and situation, so members do not choose their base room. As WhoCrew members make measurable progress, BetterWho may invite them into a more advanced room.

  11. What are The WhoCrew role-specific rooms?

Role-specific rooms are an add-on to The WhoCrew that give a property management company additional mastermind seats for the owner or a staff member in a specific role. Available role-specific rooms are Integrator, Growth for Owners, Growth for BDMs, AI Basic, AI Advanced, Maintenance, Leasing and Bookkeeping. Each room offers peer problem-solving with people in the same seat.

  12. How much do The WhoCrew role-specific rooms cost?

The WhoCrew role-specific rooms add-on costs $500 per month and covers any and all available rooms. A property management company can choose one or more rooms, and each seat can be filled by the owner or any one staff member. The add-on is available only to members of The WhoCrew.

  13. Can my team members join The WhoCrew?

Yes, through The WhoCrew role-specific rooms add-on. For $500 per month on top of a WhoCrew membership, a property management company can place staff members such as an Integrator, BDM, maintenance lead, leasing lead, or bookkeeper in rooms designed for their role. Strengthening these leaders reduces how many decisions escalate to the owner.

  14. What happens if I miss WhoCrew sessions?

The WhoCrew protects room quality with an attendance policy. A member who misses 2 out of 3 consecutive sessions without notice has their seat reassigned at the next quarterly window, while the membership commitment continues. Owners also receive a monthly report card within 5 days of each session showing attendance and commitments for every seat their company holds.

RTM Direct Remote Staffing

Explore RTM Direct Staffing
  1. What is RTM Direct?

RTM Direct is BetterWho's direct-hire remote staffing service for property management companies. RTM Direct sources, vets, and matches long-term Remote Team Members (RTMs) who integrate into the client's team, own outcomes, and take real work off the owner's plate. Every RTM placed by BetterWho is trained in property management operations and AI-certified.

  2. What is a Remote Team Member (RTM)?

A Remote Team Member (RTM) is a long-term remote hire who is integrated into a property management company's core team and owns outcomes, not just tasks. BetterWho coined the term to distinguish RTMs from generic virtual assistants. RTMs placed through RTM Direct follow clear standards, document policies and processes as they learn, and grow into outcome ownership.

  3. What is the difference between an RTM and a virtual assistant?

A BetterWho Remote Team Member (RTM) owns outcomes, while a typical virtual assistant (VA) completes assigned tasks. RTMs placed through RTM Direct self-onboard with a 90-day plan, document policies and processes, integrate into the company culture, complete property management and AI training, and come with a placement guarantee. VAs often have minimal training, limited scope, high turnover, and no guarantee.

  4. Is RTM Direct a staffing agency?

No. RTM Direct is a direct-hire recruiting service, not a staffing agency. Unlike agency models that charge ongoing markups and control the placement, RTM Direct lets property management companies hire directly. The client owns the relationship with the Remote Team Member and pays the RTM directly, with no agency markup on wages.

  5. Can hiring an RTM through BetterWho reduce labor costs?

Yes. BetterWho estimates that RTM Direct can reduce labor costs by up to 50% compared with local hires or staffing agencies. Because RTM Direct is a direct-hire model, property management companies pay their Remote Team Members directly, without ongoing agency markups on wages.

  6. What roles can a BetterWho Remote Team Member fill?

Remote Team Members placed through RTM Direct can fill property management roles in operations, growth, and leadership, including customer service, admin support, receptionist, leasing specialist, maintenance coordinator, marketing specialist, sales support or ISA, property manager assistant, bookkeeper, controller, operations manager, marketing manager, BDM, executive assistant, and property or portfolio manager.

  7. What are the RTM Direct tiers?

RTM Direct uses three tiers. Tier 1 covers roles that need no property management experience, such as customer service, admin, receptionist, and leasing specialist. Tier 2 covers roles that require property management or role-specific experience, such as maintenance coordinator, marketing specialist, and property manager assistant. Tier 3 covers leadership, specialized, software-specific, or country-specific roles, such as operations manager, controller, and BDM.

  8. How much does an RTM Direct placement cost?

An RTM Direct one-time placement costs $2,500 for Tier 1, $3,000 for Tier 2, and $3,500 for Tier 3. Each placement includes sourcing, custom matching, training and support, and a 90-day guarantee. If a search needs to move up a tier, the upgrade costs $1,000 (Tier 1 to Tier 2, or Tier 2 to Tier 3) or $2,000 (Tier 1 to Tier 3).

  9. What guarantee comes with an RTM Direct placement?

Every RTM Direct one-time placement is backed by a 90-day replacement guarantee. If the Remote Team Member's employment ends within the first 90 days, BetterWho restarts the search and finds a replacement for the same role at no additional cost, up to two replacements per original placement. The guarantee applies when the client attends the 30-, 60-, and 90-day check-ins, gives BetterWho written notice within 14 days of the departure, and is current on all payments. For protection beyond 90 days, BetterWho offers RTM Performance, which includes an ongoing guarantee for each RTM placed for as long as the plan is active, and the RTM Partner Plan, which includes a 12-month placement guarantee for each RTM placed.

  10. What happens after I hire a Remote Team Member through RTM Direct?

After an RTM Direct placement, the Remote Team Member begins self-paced onboarding training and AI certification, builds a 90-day onboarding plan, and documents policies and processes while learning the role. BetterWho supports the client with tool and logistics setup, an HR guide for managing remote team members, and check-ins at 30, 60, and 90 days.

  11. What if my Remote Team Member leaves?

If a Remote Team Member leaves, the knowledge they documented stays with the property management company, because BetterWho RTMs document policies and processes as they work. RTM Direct one-time placements include a 90-day guarantee, RTM Performance includes an ongoing guarantee for as long as the plan is active, and the RTM Partner Plan includes a 12-month placement guarantee for each RTM placed.

  12. What is RTM Performance?

RTM Performance is BetterWho's plan for property management companies that want an RTM placement plus ongoing protection, training, and development. RTM Performance costs $150 per month per placement, with reduced placement fees of $1,000 (Tier 1), $1,500 (Tier 2), or $2,000 (Tier 3). It includes an ongoing guarantee for each RTM placed, for as long as the plan is active, and BetterYou Coaching and Support, with a 12-month minimum commitment followed by month-to-month terms.

  13. When does RTM Performance billing start and stop?

RTM Performance billing of $150 per month per Remote Team Member begins only after the RTM is placed and starts working with the client. After the 12-month minimum, the plan continues month to month and can be canceled with 30 days' notice. If an RTM leaves, billing for that RTM stops, and a replacement RTM starts a new plan.

  14. What is the RTM Partner Plan?

The RTM Partner Plan is BetterWho's strategic workforce partnership for qualified property management companies that need multiple placements and organization-wide RTM support. The RTM Partner Plan costs $1,000 per month for all placements, with preferred placement fees of $500 (Tier 1), $1,000 (Tier 2), or $2,000 (Tier 3). It includes unlimited placements, a 12-month placement guarantee for each RTM placed, and BetterYou Coaching and Support.

  15. What does the RTM Partner Plan include beyond RTM Performance?

Beyond RTM Performance, the RTM Partner Plan includes unlimited placements, training and support for every RTM in the organization, premium client support, monthly HR oversight, scorecard and team-structure support, RTM utilization support, and preferred placement pricing. RTM Partner Plan support is proactive and organization-wide rather than tied to each individual placement.

  16. Which RTM Direct option should I choose?

Choose an RTM Direct one-time placement for a single hire backed by a 90-day guarantee. Choose RTM Performance for a placement plus ongoing training, development, and a guarantee for as long as the plan is active. Choose the RTM Partner Plan when hiring several Remote Team Members and wanting organization-wide support with unlimited placements. A free BetterWho consultation helps confirm the right option.

  17. What is the BetterYou RTM Coaching & Support Program?

The BetterYou RTM Coaching & Support Program gives Remote Team Members that BetterWho did not place access to BetterWho's RTM development program. It includes structured onboarding, BetterYou coaching and development resources, monthly live RTM group coaching, professional-growth guidance, learning community access, engagement tracking, and ongoing support. The program costs $150 per month for each RTM, with a $250 enrollment fee and a 12-month minimum. Monthly billing starts on the RTM's start date.

  18. Who is the BetterYou RTM Coaching & Support Program for?

The BetterYou RTM Coaching & Support Program is for property management companies that hired a Remote Team Member independently, screened a candidate through BetterWho's Candidate Screen, want to enroll an existing remote team member, or need development support without placement services. It does not include sourcing, recruiting, placement, or a guarantee. RTMs placed through RTM Performance or the RTM Partner Plan already receive BetterYou coaching and support.

  19. What is BetterWho Candidate Screen?

Candidate Screen is BetterWho's candidate screening service for property management companies that already have a candidate through a referral or direct application. For $250 per screening, BetterWho provides an intake form, resume review, standardized screening checks (an audio sample, a written sample, a computer specs check, a typing test and an internet speed test), a 30-minute structured interview, a reference check, and a one-page scorecard with a Recommended or Not Recommended verdict. Results are typically delivered within 1 to 3 business days of sign-up, depending on how quickly the candidate responds and how quickly BetterWho can obtain the information needed for screening, such as references from previous employers. Candidate Screen does not include sourcing, background checks, role-specific skills or technical testing, or follow-up calls. It has no guarantee: if a Recommended candidate is hired and leaves, is terminated, or proves a poor fit within 90 days of their start date, the screening fee can be applied as a credit toward any RTM Direct placement.

  20. What is the RTM Direct EOR Upgrade?

The EOR Upgrade is a $500 one-time add-on for any RTM Direct placement that hires the Remote Team Member as a full-time employee through an Employer of Record (EOR) in their country, instead of as a freelancer. The EOR is a third-party provider, not BetterWho, that handles the employment agreement, payslips, local-currency payroll, and access to local social services. BetterWho connects the client with the EOR provider, and the client pays the EOR provider directly: a monthly fee calculated as a percentage of the Remote Team Member's wages. Country availability varies.

  21. What is the RTM Direct Priority Pass?

The Priority Pass is a $900 add-on for any RTM Direct placement that moves the property management company to the front of the recruiting line. The Priority Pass is designed for clients who need a new Remote Team Member as quickly as possible.

  22. How are BetterWho Remote Team Members trained?

Every Remote Team Member placed through RTM Direct completes self-paced onboarding training covering property management fundamentals, industry software, and customer service, plus AI certification. RTMs on RTM Performance and the RTM Partner Plan continue with BetterYou ongoing coaching and support, including role-based lessons, certifications, and monthly live RTM group coaching. RTMs can train a few hours a day while doing real work.
